Quality Assurance Technician

As a Quality Assurance Technician, you will ensure that products and processes meet established quality standards. You will be responsible for conducting inspections, tests, and audits to identify deviations or non-conformities. Your goal will be to meet our customer expectations based on produced reports. You will produce the relevant paperwork, labelling and organise their dispatch on time – optimising efficiency and operational excellence.

To excel in this role, a Quality Assurance Technician should have a strong understanding of quality control principles and inspection techniques. They should possess excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to interpret technical specifications and drawings. Effective communication and teamwork are essential to collaborate with various stakeholders and drive quality improvements. Additionally, familiarity with quality management systems and relevant software tools is beneficial.

JOB DESCRIPTION

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Inspect parts during goods in against delivery notes for accuracy and damages to ensure they meet the required specifications.
  • Notify the supplier of any short shipments, damaged goods received, to place in the Quarantine section to resolve within 48 hours, and to contact your Line Manager for further instructions if necessary.
  • Perform inspections and tests on raw materials, in-process components, and finished products to ensure they meet quality specifications and standards. This may involve using various measuring tools, equipment, and testing methods.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspection and test results, including any non-conformities or deviations.
  • Monitor and enforce adherence to quality control processes and procedures.
  • Identify areas for improvement and recommend corrective actions to enhance product quality and process efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal quality management systems.
  • Stay updated on relevant regulations and standards to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Investigate and analyse the root causes of quality issues or non-conformities.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality systems, processes, and product performance. Contribute to problem-solving efforts and suggest innovative ideas for quality enhancement.
  • Provide support to teams on quality control procedures, standards, and best practices. Foster a culture of quality awareness and accountability throughout the organization.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

ESSENTIAL

  • Understanding of quality control principles.
  • Competent in using a computer for logging data or retrieving information.
  • Proven quality inspection experience within a manufacturing environment.

DESIRABLE

  • Ability to interpret technical specifications and drawings.
  • Understanding and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and quality management systems (such as ISO 9001).
  • Precision Manufacturing/ Engineering background.
  • Experience working under DSQR, APQP, PPAP and PFMEA.
  • Forklift truck licence.

KEY SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to stand for long periods of time, lift boxes, and pack parts.
  • Actively seeking opportunities to enhance quality processes, reduce defects, and optimize efficiency.
  • Adaptable to changing priorities, work environments, and technologies, as quality assurance requirements may evolve over time.
  • Able to work independently, reviewed infrequently with minimal supervision.
  • Manage multiple tasks and requests in a variety of disciplines.
  • Computer literate and ability to input data correctly.
  • Ability to show problem analysis skills and devising solutions.
  • Works well as part of a team, adopting a collaborative approach to work.
  • Good understanding of the impact of failure/cost of poor quality.
  • Self-motivated, showcases initiative, and able to work to deadlines effectively​.
