As Quality and H&S Manager, you will manage the QMS, and oversee both the department and all quality activities. Your responsibilities will include reviewing, understanding and working to the quality standards, specifications, and processes set by customers and accreditation bodies. You role will also be to develop and control our internal processes and quality control systems. You will strive for improvements in overall efficiency, while looking for opportunities to provide cost-savings and increased productivity.

- Day-to-day management of the Quality system and measuring of Quality Performance internally, with customers and suppliers.
- To take ownership of the QMS and quality team in order to maintain best-practice quality across the company.
- Improve the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of the manufacturing process and the supply chain by liaising with staff, management, customers, and suppliers.
- Develop and maintain cost effective and practical inspection methodologies using appropriate equipment suitable for the product range.
- Assist with review and sign-off of First Article Inspection Reports.
- Develop a continuous improvement plan of activities by supporting LEAN & 5S events and generating individual ideas to improve EHS and quality.
- Liaise with customers, staff and management on quality issues and provide immediate response to all customer complaints and manage customer returns, investigation, and rework requirements.
- Use 8D problem solving with 5Y principles, to determine all internal & external non-conformances.
- Carry out internal product, process, and supplier audits to ensure that the processes in place are maintained and the manufacturing & supply chain is compliant.
- Oversee all corrective actions are implemented following root cause investigations or audits, ensuring all non-conforming records are reviewed and closed out in a timely manner.
- Manage and control the calibration system for up to 2000 individual items.
- Contribute to the delivery of the EHS Model by participating in Job Safety Observations, providing solutions to EHS problems where appropriate and carrying out method statements and risk assessments.
- Implement and oversee the integration and operation of AS9145 and AS9100.
- Manage and oversee the DSQR process within the business.
- Accountable for undertaking quality investigations and implementing any changes needed to QMS.
- Accountable for internal audits of process compliance and pro-actively recommending improvements.
- Responsible for continually improving the standard operating processes and be the point of escalation for any quality related interaction with customers and auditors.
- Promote a positive health and safety culture, and act as lead for a culture of quality and continuous improvement and support other members of staff as necessary.
- Provide HS training and awareness along different sites.
- Maintaining documentation of procedural changes.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
- 3 years of experience of working in a Quality Management role within the engineering or similar industry.
- 2:1 University Degree (Equivalent to bachelor’s degree) in related discipline.
- Recognised auditor qualification.
- H&S management and experience within a H&S role.
- Inspection of mechanical components.
- Understanding of CNC machining and development of First Articles and measurement.
- A valid full UK driving license.
Desirable
- Mechanical Engineering qualification HNC minimum.
- Experience of preparing First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).
- An understanding of APQP / AS9145.
- EHS knowledge ISO 14001/45001.
- CMM Programming and use.
- 8D problem solving.
- An understanding of LEAN manufacturing philosophy.
